Turtle tanks and cages

Now that you have decided to take on the responsibility of turtle ownership; it is now time for you to take into consideration the different types of tanks and cages that are available for you to purchase. However, with that said; you should always begin at the type of turtle you have chosen to adopt. While aquatic turtles may require a little less room based on their smaller size, semi-aquatic turtles will need a larger aquarium or cage to provide them with both water and land.
The smallest cage or tank you should consider is twenty gallons. Anything smaller then this and it could be detrimental to the overall health of your animal!
If you aren’t sure which type of turtle (or tortoise) cage or tank you should purchase, utilize your local experts. They will be knowledgeable of the space requirement of each turtle that you have chosen to add into your home. However, as a basic rule; you should have twenty gallons for every four inches of turtle within its walls.
