Texas Map Turtle
The Texas Map Turtle (also known as Graptemys Versa) can be found in places such as Colorado within its river systems. However, it can also be found along creeks and streams that connect to these rivers. Oddly enough, it is called the Texas Map Turtle when it isn’t found natively in Texas. Instead, it is called this due to the map-like look of their shell that resembles the map of Texas.
They are the smallest of the map turtle species and are some of the dullest of them as well. They come in a dark brown with three orange to yellow circles upon the underbelly of their head (or chin).
These turtles are regulated heavily in the pet population within the United States. It is of the utmost importance for you to research the laws in your area; to see whether or not these beautiful turtles are legal in your area. However, if they are; these animals make wonderful pets! They are great for beginners who have a knowledgeable turtle expert at their back! |
