Southern American Wood Turtle
The Southern American Wood Turtle (also known as Rhinoclemmys Punctularia) is a turtle that ranges anywhere from eight inches to eleven and a half inches in length. They are a highly omnivorous turtle which feeds naturally upon fish, snails, insects, carrion, worms, and plant life.
When creating an enclosure for your Southern American wood turtle, there are a few temperatures that you will want to take into consideration. You should maintain an air temperature within the low to mid eighties, a basking temperature from the high eighties to low nineties, and a water temperature within the mid seventies. This will ensure that your turtle is happy and healthy in their enclosure.
When housing this species of turtle, you should provide them a large dry land mass for them to enjoy, along with a good amount of water for them to swim within the shallow depths. Due to their easy maintenance; they make wonderful pets for even the beginner turtle owner! |
