Pearl River Map Turtle
The Pearl River Map Turtle (or Pascagoula map turtle) is a little known turtle throughout the world. Which truly is an unfortunate fact that this turtle is uncommon; they are found only in places such as the Pearl and Pascagoula rivers located in Mississippi and Louisiana.
Even more sorry still, their habitat is being destroyed; along with it this beautiful species of turtle is losing ground in their stand in life. Making it almost impossible to find one of these stunning turtles as pets; however not completely so. It is possible to find them at near-by turtle rescues who have taken these stunning pets out of dangerous or abusive homes. In some cases, they are even rescued from hoarders and places in which they are illegal to own.
These turtles are carnivorous, usually being fed things such as fish, clams, snails, and insects. However, it is possible for you to feed them on a diet that is supplemented by a nutritional turtle pellet specialized for this species. |
