Mississippi Map Turtle


The Mississippi Map Turtle, a native of Nebraska, Mississippi, and Illinois. They are a stunning turtle with a rich brown coloration. Some of the most distinguishing features on this turtle are the black-tipped knobs along the turtle’s spine. They even have a deep orange to yellow semi-circles on its carapace (or upper shell).  Their Plastron (lower shell) is generally a tan to yellowy brown coloration, with lines that resemble that of a wood grain pattern.

Their body is one of the most distinguishing features. With reverse crescents and curves that stripe across their bodies in a rich yellowy cream coloration. Their eyes are truly stunning, with a bright unbroken iris in yellow to white eyes.

This adorable map turtle usually ranges from three and a half inches long to ten inches. The female being the larger of the two in this species. The sex of this turtle may be determined by looking over its tail. The female’s tail being far smaller than that of the male’s. This will help to make it easier to find the right sex of Mississippi map turtle for you.
