How long do turtles live?

The biggest question many pre and post turtle parents have for their vets and specialists is; how long do turtles live? Unfortunately, this isn’t a question that is easily answered as it varies greatly per living conditions, the overall health of the individual animal, and the type of turtle you have chosen to add into your family.
Their life span will depend greatly on the species of turtle you choose and whether or not they are captive. However, with that said; these aren’t for people who want a pet for a couple of years then back to normal! Oh no, these pets can last anywhere from ten to eighty years depending on their living conditions. Some may even see well over one hundred years.
If you are looking for a long-lived reptile, turtles and tortoises are the pet for you. Especially since that they can sometimes outlive their owners in pristine living conditions. Remember, when you choose to enter into owning a turtle; this may be a lifelong commitment!
