Golden Greek Tortoise

The Golden Greek Tortoise, a stunning specimen of tortoise that is found in places such as Spain, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and throughout the Middle East. They are known far and wide by many names, some being the Greek Tortoise and the Spur Thigh Tortoise. Despite their natural regions; the Golden Greek Tortoise has become an ever-popular pet throughout the world.

These stunning olive green tortoise with golden hues can range anywhere from six to seven inches in size; making them a fairly small tortoise. While these tortoises are fairly small, they should generally be housed in what is considered a turtle table. This is simply because the tortoise requires airflow that wouldn’t be given by an enclosed aquarium.

Greek tortoises require a maintained temperature that can be achieved with a good lighting setup. Along with heat, they require a dry environment; with a lining of substrates such as soil and topsoil that is used for their bedding.

They are herbivores; often times eating a high-fiber diet of deep leafy greens such as mustard, collard, turnip, and dandelion greens. Along with their food, offer them a steady supply of water in a shallow dish to round out their nutritional needs.
