Caring for an aquatic turtle
Caring for an aquatic turtle is a little different than your average land turtle. It is extremely important that you follow the care instructions provided by your aquatic turtle rescue; to promote health and longevity of life in your new pet.
Glass aquariums are some of the best types of habitats you can invest in. This is especially true if you ever want to see your new pet while they are underwater. However, with that said; you should purchase one that is large enough to allow your aquatic turtle to swim freely. IT should be a minimum size of 10 gallons per four inches of turtle. Providing them with a half and half split of water and land.
Proper diet is of the utmost importance for these turtles. From commercial turtle pellets which are a great way of starting off on the right foot; you should include things such as live feeder fish; which will help you create a much better environment for your aquatic turtle to live in. |
